Select a different operating
system
Support for East Asian languages is embedded in Windows XP.
All you need to do is activate it.
Open "Control Panel" > "Date, Time, Language,
and Regional Options".

Click "Add other languages".

Check "Install files for East Asian languages" and click
"Apply".
You may be prompted to insert the Windows XP installation CD-ROM.

To be able to switch between Japanese and English input, click
"Details", and select "Japanese - Microsoft IME Standard"
as the Default input language.

You may want to delete the English input, since it is also available
while using IME. For an explanation on how to use IME, click
here.
Click "OK".
After installation it might be necessary to restart your computer.
